How to build your Kawaii Loungewear style?
Expressing yourself through your wardrobe can be hard. There are so many different things to look for when building your kawaii loungewear style. However, I’m here to break it down into a couple of easy steps so you know what to look for!
Where do I start?
To make it simple, I’ve made a list of what to prioritize. The most important things to look for when building a kawaii loungewear style are:
- Clothing style: Lounge sets, pajamas, and chemises.
- Comfort: Flannel/silk, and the fit.
- Confidence: Wear what makes you feel good! You should be confident AND comfy!
These are all great starting points, but you might still feel a little overwhelmed because of all of the adorable options you’ll find. Don’t worry, narrowing down and finding your specific style isn’t as scary as it sounds! I have tons of extra pointers and tips for building your own kawaii loungewear style.
Clothing style: your type of clothing
When building your kawaii loungewear style, it’s super important to think about what you want to wear. What kind of kawaii aesthetic do you like? Are you into ruffles and ribbons, or do you prefer something sexy but still comfy? Searching for inspiration pictures online is an amazing resource. Loungewear clothing styles include things like:
- Chemise and camisoles
- Pajamas and nightgowns
- Matching sets
Silky chemises are great options if you like something light and sexy. If one-pieces aren’t for you, but you love the feeling of silk, camisoles are another great alternative. You can pair them with any comfy bottom.
If you want something you can (literally) fall asleep in, pajamas make great loungewear. Pajamas are a common choice for kawaii loungewear. They’re incredibly easy to wear and give you the option of feeling a little snugger.
If you like lounging around in something more casual and kawaii, matching sets might be for you. These have a lot of versatility because they have adorable designs and are extremely comfortable to wear. You can wear these at home for comfort, or mix and match the top with a pair of jeans to wear out!
Comfort: what feels best on you
When building a kawaii loungewear style, comfort is obviously one of the most important things! Loungewear is whatever feels comfortable enough to lounge around in.
This is why it’s so important to consider what feels best on you. Do you like fluffy fabric? What feels good on your body shape? This is what I like to call the 2 F’s: fabric and fit! This is an easy way to remember what to look for when building a kawaii loungewear style.
Fabrics like flannel, cotton, and silk all feel really different. Flannel and cotton both tend to be super soft and comfortable, but flannel can also be fluffy! If you’re the kind of person who loves adorable fluffy pajamas, you might want to try to include a lot of flannel in your loungewear style.
Babydoll Embroidery Slip Night Dress
Silk feels… well, silky. Just kidding! It feels delicate and light, which makes it easy to wear. It helps keep your body temperature regulated, which might be for you if you tend to overheat a lot. If you find yourself feeling very warm or sweating while lounging around at home, look for silk pieces for your style.
And of course, we can’t forget about fit. Fit is essential to deciding whether your loungewear might be comfortable and whether you want it to be part of your kawaii style.
Some people feel best in tight-fitting clothes. Something like a teddy, which is a lace camisole top, might be for you. Teddies tend to have more structure to them and hug you, which also helps show off your body. Other tight-fitting loungewear includes things such as matching bra and bloomer sets. These are soft, but hug you more than other pajama sets.
A lot of people also like loose-fitting clothes. In that case, nightgowns and chemises are great options. Nightgowns are very loose and comfortable to wear and are usually lightweight. Chemises are also silky and lightweight, this makes them comfortable to wear. Neither of these options fits too tightly and doesn’t have as much restriction as other loungewear options.
Confidence: feel your best
The last thing I have to tell you is probably the most important one… feel confident! Confidence is the key to successfully building and wearing your kawaii loungewear style. What makes you feel confident? This is something you need to consider.
Does showing more of your body make you feel empowered? Then breezy styles like chemises and teddy camisoles are perfect for you. Chemises are great at showing off your cleavage and teddies show off your body. Similarly, you should consider including other lingerie-type styles in your kawaii loungewear style. Other lingerie/bra tops and bloomers would be adorable additions to your style.
You could also feel most confident wearing loungewear styles that cover you a little more, or just feel best when you’re snug and comfy. In this case, I would recommend matching sets or nightgowns. Both of these options can come in so many kawaii styles (ribbons, adorable characters, ruffles) and will keep you feeling cozy. Matching sets come in a variety of styles, ranging from t-shirt tops with shorts, or long-sleeved tops and long pants. You can also find nightgowns that have different necklines, and lengths. There is something for everyone!
Have fun with it
Building your kawaii loungewear style can sound like a big task, but it doesn’t have to be. Taking it one step at a time makes it easy, and most importantly, it makes it fun!
Your kawaii loungewear style should consist of your clothing style, be comfortable, and make you feel confident and adorable.
Remember, there are so many kawaii options for loungewear, and you can make anything loungewear as long as it feels comfortable to you! Chase after the cute and comfy outfit of your dreams.
As long as you feel good, you will look good! Building your kawaii loungewear style will be fun, and will help you express yourself in every aspect of your life… even when you feel like staying at home! Happy style-searching and shopping!
