10 FAMOUS MAID CHARACTERS IN JAPANESE ANIME
1.Tohru(Miss Kobayashi Dragon Maid):
Tohru is the sweetest and most quirky supernatural maid character that I know. She is honestly my favorite maid anime character. If you haven’t seen this anime yet then let me give you a brief explanation of the plot.
As Kobayashi gets ready for work in the morning, she is greeted by a large dragon at her front door. As soon as she lays eyes on this dragon it turns into a female human being dressed in a maid dress. It turns out that Kobayashi had a drunken night out with her friends in the Mountains/forest. In which she met a dragon that claimed to be from another world. Then subsequently, Kobayashi removed the holy sword that was on this dragon's back, earring Tohru’s gratitude. Since Tohru has no place to stay, Kobayashi let’s Tohru move in and become her personal maid. This is a comedy fantasy anime so from then onwards a lot of fun and crazy adventures developed.
2.Rem(Re:Zero Starting Life In A New World):
You may recognize this sky blue hair Kawaii one maid character during the time this anime went viral. Well I think Re:Zero is still pretty popular, I mean season 2 released not too long ago. As we know, Rem is the younger twin sister of Ram working for Roswaal L Mathers, the mage descendent of the original Roswaal. Rem is an excellent maid and is very loyal towards those she loves.
Once you earn Rem's affection, she is sure to always protect you even if it means she’ll have to put her life in danger and die multiple times. This makes the sweetest and most reliable maid character.
3.Maika Sakuranomiya(Blend S):
Maika Sakuranomiya truly puts the S in Sadistic. After being scouted the owner of the cafe, Dino. A maid cafe that complys to all kinds of tropes such as little sisters, tsundere and big sisters etc. Well you get the point, each of the maids that work at this cafe are given a persona. So it’s like entertainment with a meal.So Maika begins her training to be the cutest sadistic maid that she will be.
4.Mey-Rin(Black Butler):
Mey-Rin from the anime Black Butler May just look like a cute ditzy maid who can’t do her job and you are exactly right. Her role as a maid however is a facade to hide her real job as Sniper. She is quite talented, she can kill someone from a large distance because of her sharp eyes.
In season three of this anime, Mey-Rin shows her true strength when intruders enter Phantomhive mansion. She is able to easily snipe from rooftops without a scope and takes her task of cleaning the estate of filth seriously. If you are looking for a battle ready maid, then Mey-Rin is the perfect choice for you.
5.Virgo(Fairy Tail):
Virgo is from the anime Fairy Tail, she is accustomed to being a maid for a corrupt politician Everlue before she started working for Lucy Heartfilia. Virgo is a celestial spirit that’s one the 12 Golden Keys that Lucy owns, within which Virgo takes on the looks of a maid with shackles on her wrists. She used the chains as weapons and this ties into her personal preference of masochism. She is extremely loyal and affectionate towards Lucy. Virgo’s nickname for Lucy is ‘Princess’.
6.Chihiro Komiya(Shounen Maid) :
Chihiro from the anime Shounen Maid, may look like a girl but he’s actually a boy. Common mistake in anime is that elementary school boys are mistaken for girls. Chihiro works for his uncle as a maid after his mother’s unfortunate passing. I think that he was given this maid outfit as a joke. That could be the only reason why he has to wear that outfit while taking care of house work.
7.Maria (Hayate The Combat Butler):
I’m sure a number of you recognize Hayate’s advanced capabilities within the anime Hayate The Combat Butler, Maria is his formidable companion. Maira is the closest person to Nagi and her personal maid. She isn’t only a maid to Nagi but also a really close friend and sort of like a sister.
Maria is really good at her job and always makes sure that Sanzenin is always sparkling clean. The best part is that she also has a very good relationship with her employers and always wants the best for them.
8.Misaki Ayuzawa(Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama!):
Misaki from the anime Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama is a classic example of a maid popularizing tropes as well as subverting them. But she is more of a tsundere towards Takumi. She always treats her customers with respect and always delivers the best customer service unless you do something untruly, then of course you're in trouble.
Misaki works at a Maid Cafe in which she acts as each customer's maid and has to refer to them as Master or Mistress. You would not think the girl that is the demon president would do a job like this. But she enjoys it especially since she can help her less fortunate family. She is secretly kind hearted and would treat you in the same manner.
9.Roberta(Black Lagoon):
Rosarita Cisneros or more commonly Roberta, is a maid who worked for the Lovelace Family. We have another maid on out list who is combat ready. She has a troubled past as a wanted criminal worldwide. But she escaped her past by working for the Lovelace family. Even though she doesn’t know how to clean. But it is admirable how she survived a horrid lifestyle to change her own around.
10.Mahoro(Mahoromatic):
So basically she is a battle droid who used to work for a person named Vesper. Now that there isn’t much operating time left and soon she won’t be able to function.Mahoro has been given the chance to be a human being. She chooses to work as a maid for a middle school student who lives alone after his parents passed away. What an interesting choice if you ask me.
